The Walt Disney Co. is in tune with writing team Matt and Billy Eddy, picking up their musical comedy script "A Capella" for an undisclosed sum for Chris and Paul Weitz's Depth of Field to produce. "A Capella" is described as "Bring It On" set in the world of college a capella groups. The story revolves around a group of eclectic misfits who re-form their disbanded a cappella singing group. At Disney, the project was brought in by senior vp production Brad Epstein, who will oversee with director of production LouAnne Brickhouse. The project lands close to home for Matt Eddy, who has been a production executive at Depth of Field for the past three years. Producing the project will be Chris and Paul Weitz, with Depth of Field partner Andrew Miano executive producing and executive Kerry Kohansky co-producing and overseeing for her company. "It's really exciting to be involved in the beginning of Billy and Matt's career," Chris Weitz said. " 'A Cappella' would have been a great script coming from anybody, but it's especially satisfying coming from within the family." Added Miano: "It's been nice watching Matt grow both as an employee and a writer over the last few years. Hopefully, he'll want to stick around and continue to do both." The Eddy brothers are repped by WMA and attorney Alex Kohner at Barnes, Morris, Klein, Mark, Yorn, Barnes & Levine. (Chris Gardner)
